Chemical rescue of cleft palate and midline defects in conditional GSK-3[beta] mice
Article Abstract:
A chemically regulated allele of glycogen synthase kinase-3[beta] (GSK-3[beta]) is used to define the requirements for GSK-3[beta] activity during discrete temporal windows in palatogenesis and skeletogenesis. The drug-dependent rescue of developmental defects will help in studying the GSK-3[beta] requirements and will also show the feasibility of small-molecule-based chemical genetics strategies.

Epidermal growth factor receptor is a cellular receptor for human cytomegalovirus
Article Abstract:
The mechanism of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infecting cells is explained. HCMV interacting with epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and inducing signaling. Transfecting EGFR-negative cells with an EGFR complementary DNA renders non-susceptible cells to HCMV susceptibility is demonstrated.
